  1. An ostrich is a large flightless BIRD 
  2. Struthio camelus, found in Africa. The male 
  3. may be about 2½m (8ft) tall and weigh 135kg 
  4. (300lb), and is the largest living bird. It 
  5. has exceptionally strong legs and feet 
  6. (two-toed) that enable it to run at high 
  7. speed, and are also used in defence.
